So I’m finally starting to get over this last cold that I got. Its body ache, fever and a cough. (No, its not the same one as before, it is another cold…) I can’t believe it, but i’m been in my bed for the last 4 weeks. In any case, I’m a little more mobile now, but still a little light headed. But there is good news: The car has been found. “McCormick” is the new name, or “big mac” for short. Once i get better, I will come by to see all of you. I hope that the transition between subs and the new teacher is going well.

Its still raining outside, and its my favorite weather. I know when its rainy at CVHS no one wants to go through the middle of the courtyard, so it gets all congested under the passage ways.  The main office was straight through the courtyard, and on rainy days, I made a point of putting the papers inside my hoddie and walking straight through the courtyard. There were no students, no traffic, it was great. :)

How’s the status of the construction going?  I’m going to come by soon, and watch there is going to be another football field or something (jk) constructed.  Which reminds me, if you guys have home games  for whatever sprot (ahaha, sport) is in season, tell me! I’d love to come watch you play and scream your name!!  OOOh. Anyone got the inside on the soccer team at NCS?  Those boys were supposed to score a goal for me.

I was recently reading the ingredients on the back of my brother’s hair gel, and  thought I could do an entire naming lesson based on these chemicals.  AHHHHHHH!!! Nomenclature is so cool!!!

okay, i’ll visit soon.
love, ms. yi

I heard through the grape vine that they found another teacher.  that is so awesome.  I’m really happy for you guys.  it pained me so much to leave, and hearing all your comments made me remember all those lab-table-dancing times. Personally, I think that my backwards dance is pretty good, though sometimes i think the rain dance has potential. Still the search continues for a car. I will come by just as soon as I can.

New Car Name

Posted by msjullyyi on February 20, 2007

I’m taking suggestions for new name for my car. Right now I have 2 that i like.

  1. “Edward”
  2. “McCormic” (pepper brand, just like morton was a salt brand) or “Mac” for short.

That’s it for now. I’ve got a hypothesis (the names above), but I still need to gather some more data on names and come to a conclusion. I’ll try to include 3 pictures in my lab report. Like all my lab reports, this is due in one week.

You can suggest names by commenting (below) on this lab handout.

“Good morning class. It is good to see all of you. Thank you for choosing to come to class on time today. :) Let’s get started with the preamble for today.” *sigh* I just had to get that out of my system. I miss saying that 5 times a day, everyday. :)

Just when it looked liketthings were gettin better, I got stomach flu and i couldn’t keep down food or liquids. on thursday night, i went to the ER bc i was really in bad shape. the advice nurse said to go in for being too dehydrated. So, all you students need to drink water with salts. (not table salt, but salt is generic name for a metal + nonmetal, or any ionic compound) This will help you balance the K+ and Na+ (quickly, name those ions) balance across your cells and keep you well hydrated in order to tackle another day of absolutely cosmically cool chemistry.

Then, when I got rehydrated, I caught another cold and so I’ve been attached to my bed (along with my dog Sarah) for the past week. I discovered I like grape and strawberry kiwi gatorade RAIN and I still don’t like red gatorade. (did you know that gatorade was invented for the florida gators football team? thus the name gator-ade! :) that is so cool.) I’m still without a car, though I hope to be getting one this week. Even if I hadn’t left, I would be out so much it would still be the same as now. :) I promise to come visit you as soon as I can. I think that maybe I’ll come and have lunch with everyone bc it might be too hard to visit every single class.

Someone, tell me what you are learning right now. I need my chemistry fix! :) Please please write on my comments page or in response to this and then tell your friends to do the same. i really would love to hear from you. I miss all the weird quirkyness of each of my periods. I just want to check on one thing.. is patrick lahey even remotely nice to mr. parker? i sure hope so. :)

Stoichiometry forever, Ms. Yi

Today is started raining.  And its going to rain for the next 7 days. I love it. I remember that it was hard to tell if it was raining bc there was always construction outside our only window.  I just remember that the last time it was raining, someone pulled the fire alarm.  Hope everyone is nice and dry!

Monday: 2/5/06

Posted by msjullyyi on February 6, 2007

Hello everyone,

I have been MIA for a week, bc on that first Monday out of school, I got into a major car accident. There were 5 cars (i think) involved, and amazingly, even getting hit 4 times, i walked away from the accident, no scrapes. The right side of my neck is a little sore, but everything else seemed to go away after sleeping a week straight.

Unfortunately, my car (morton) was totalled and it was sad to see him get towed away to car heaven. The insurance gave me a good quote on my car, so starting later this week I’m going to do some car shopping with my parents. I think this is a sign from God to really (really) rest. I’m sorta stranded at home bc no car, and it has forced me to rest, slow down my life and extended time to read my bible.

As for my health, thank you everyone for asking. I’m doing much better, esp since I was able to sleep a week straight. I’m resting, and it feels so strange not having all of you to greet me each day. I know it was a little hectic, each of your with your own special situations, and it feels rather lonely when you are suddenly parted from 200 of your dear students.

I hope class is going well. Again, i am so heartbroken to have left you all in the middle of the year. Please keep up the energy and curiosity in learning chemistry. That will make me the most happy.

One note about quarter and semester grades. If your semester grade was lower than your 2nd quarter grade, i gave you the higher grade for the semester. I wanted to reward those who worked hard 2nd quarter to bring up your grades. I curved the final, and took the 2nd highest score for each period, as always. For the most part, (after the curve :) ) you all did very well, and i am very proud of your grades and very proud to have been your teacher.

I’m opening comments on this post as well as reading all your posts on my”leave a message” tab. I miss hearing you all say, hi ms. yi, every morning. My dog can’t really do it that well. :)

I’ll come by when I get my car. Until then, vanilla ice cream forever..

With hope, Ms. Yi
