Formatting

All Assignments:

  • Name, date, class and period (CAP) in the upper right hand corner.
  • Complete title in the margin
  • If a handout was given, staple it to the TOP of your work.

Notebook:

  • Numbered pages
  • Table of contents included
  • Each entry needs to have a line across the page, date, and title of assignment. These need to be highlighted.

3-ring binder needs these tabs

  • Administrative
  • Handouts
  • Graded assignments (homework, worksheets)
  • Study Guide and Tests
  • Lab Reports and Research Projects

Preambles

  • These are daily warm-ups that students will complete the first 5 min of class.
  • Students are required to write down the question and give an answer that is at least 1/3 of the page.
  • When starting a new preamble, draw a line across your comp notebook, put the date in the left margin and write title on the first line.

Class work

  • At the end of a unit, class work from that unit will be collected in the Unit Portfolio.
  • If a handouts was given, staple it to the top of your work.
  • When starting a new section, draw a line across, put the date in the left margin and have the title on the first line.

Tests, Quizzes and Projects

  • Test taking protocol – class guidelines.
  • Quizzes can be made up during tutorial. Please make arrangements with the teacher.
  • Absolute testing silence is required. Please bring something to read or work on silently after you are finished with your test so as not to disturb the other students.

Lab Reports

  • Reports must be typed. Handwritten portions (calculations) need to be referenced in the lab and then attached to the back.
  • If any handouts were given, staple it to the top of your work.
  • All sections need to be clearly labeled with the subheading underlined.
  • If you work in a group, your partner(s) names also need to be on the work. Each student will turn in a lab report.
  • The first page of the lab is the cover page (name, date, class, period, name of lab) and the second is a table of contents indicating where all the parts of the lab are located.
  • All pages need to be numbered starting with page 1, starting with the cover page
